I should elaborate... the accordions themselves aren't a bottleneck... Just a pipe that maintains the same diameter as the throttle body would be slightly better. The cross-sectional area of the accordion pipe is smaller than the TB, if you take a look in the pipe.
The accordions are there to allow the pipe to bend without tearing. Generally, an airbox is fixed to the chassis, and the other end of the pipe is connected to the engine. The flex, over time, may degrade a more rigid system. Also, during maintenance, it is easier to flex the pipe out of the way without stressing it (like when changing the filter for example).
Even Ferrari and Porsche care about such things in their design. The AVO silicone piece (with their filter) made gains on the dyno. Now they might mostly be due to the filter, but nonetheless the combination made power.
