I suppose... But I can't imagine the weight of the extra frame piece is any less than a slightly larger motor (if that would even be required) to raise a heavier piece of glass.
But if it's both of those, why not just replace that piece with plastic and mount the mirror there, like other sports cars?
It was changed in the FR-S version... wish they would incorporate that tweak in the production model.
