I feel like perhaps it should be taller, and edgier; less rounded edges. It just doesn't quite look OEM. I also don't like the way that it opens. I feel like it should hinge at the back so it can be out of the way when you're using cupholders.
I dunno, just have the designers search "Porsche armrest", "BMW armrest", "Audi armrest", etc. and get some classy ideas.
Notice the height and shape of this one? Obviously the FR-S/BRZ one has to curve to match the console, but that's fine. Put red double stitching on it and it could be a winner:
