The 5-10 or so degrees it would take to fix the angle wouldn't change ANYTHING in terms of performance. It's just the tube for the air filter.
Yes. Efficiency. The positioning on this kit looks like its around the 15* mark. I don't see that is a real detriment to turbocharger longevity.

IMO, the only reason to mount the turbo with the shaft parallel to the ground is aesthetic. And again, IMO, that's a compromise.

Plus, as John already pointed out, it looks badass.

I suspect there will be more issues with the elevated engine bay temps..
