Did you read my recent posts in this thread, where I talked about the issues I had with my '95 cobra?
I offset the wheels for that very reason! The SN95 Mustang was notorious for this. It's because it was still based on the Foxbody platform of the previous-gen mustang, which was a significantly smaller vehicle. The car couldn't be given good handling manners with a wider wheelbase because the suspension mount points made optimising the geometry for a larger car impossible without tucking the wheels in an inch or two.
I will say, though, that my '95 Cobra handled like it was on rails. Apart from steering wheel feel, it really handled quite a bit better than my '10 GTI. The only bad trait in stock form was the excessive brake dive, which was also caused by the suspension geometry.
