Yeah, I started thinking about this problem which occured on an earlier Subaru Engine...

... These two VVT systems are different from each other. That being said in the Toyota Tech Bulletins they are being asked to make a pretty long recording of the engine operation while they are running their tests. I wonder what cam position logs are actually reporting. I wonder if the two problems are similar in some way.
