took it to the dealership and said here, lol. they then recorded all the engine issues with this freeze frame tech. and sent it to a engineer at toyota corp. and they responded and said ECU need to be replaced with new software. so now i went from driving a FRS to a Matrix to a corrolla and now im in a yaris. trying to figure out how they should compinsate me what you guys think.....?

Something about this ECU solution doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy (at least without a better explanation from Toyota/Subaru). The error comes up because the ECU has detected a difference between where it thinks the cam gear's timing is and where it should be.
So does this mean that the something within the ECU is generating a fault where there is none, or are they widening the "window" for an acceptable deviation between the two readings (basically fudging it)?
