I know, Doesn't matter. Bugatti, Lambo, Audi (on the R8 no less), Ferrari all do the same thing. It has 4 real exhaust outlets, who cares if it's got a shiny tip over them? It's a bullshit excuse that naysayers use to hate on the IS F for being so damn good the first time out. Don't encourage em.

p.s. They are not plastic, and with respect to the MR2, never said that stock was the better setup... just that it exists... stock... already. Nothing "fake" about it.
