Yep, I said this in another similar thread, but my family once took a trip with 2 adult females (Aunt and my Mother), my 2 sisters (10 and 1), my brother (8) and me (12) as well as a full grown German Shepherd in a VW Bug from Wilmington, NC to Lexington, KY. 3 kids in the back, dog in the rear floorboard, adults up front and my Mom held my baby sister, or passed her around between the kids.

I didn't say it was a pleasant trip, but we all survived. Of course, you couldn't do that today, at least legally.
