I definitely plan to get a set of winter tires for Chicagoland. I'm VERY curious to see how it handles in snow, slush, and ice.
From 2006-08 I drove a 6MT IS250 in Iowa winters on factory all season tires. The balance on that car I believe was right about 57/43 front/rear. After it snowed the first winter I had it I ended up putting two 75lb sand bags in the trunk, wedged all the way up right behind the rear seat and secured with straps to keep the weight planted over the rear wheels and to prevent shifting. That car was a TANK in the snow, never ever once got stuck or worried about traction. But that car was over 600 lbs heavier even before I added the sand bags. I'm hoping that just snow tires will suffice for the FR-S, otherwise I might put a single sand bag over the rear tires to see how that works.
In any event, I imagine our cars will be wicked fun in the snow!
