You are correct, but I absolutely love the car, and the impression I get (not verified) is that less than 25% of cars are affected by the problem.
Also, I'm pretty certain that the repair process will get more efficient (and faster) as Toyoburu figure out the issues, put out the appropriate TSBs or recall notices, and back off enough on production to ensure that parts get to the US. If I get a week or two out before the problem returns, I think the process will be at least somewhat more routinized.
And then there's the roll of the dice - maybe this one will be be one of the lucky ones?
