Well Scion's first response was to try to cover up the CEL by resetting it and driving around making sure it didn't come back. So a new ECU that "masks" the problem doesn't sound too far out of line. I'm sure they'll do anything to make these cars look like they work great to keep the investors happy. You can bet there will never be a recall, just a TSB and some engineers with their hair on fire in Japan trying to keep this flaw low key.
