Depends on where you go and what type of paint you get. I worked at a sign shop for a while and had to do an install on a van that had been repainted at Mako. The retards didn't bother with any prep, and painted directly over the old silver. When we pulled off the transfer tape (which is the lightest tack in the world, even less than painters tape) it pulled off the white paint to reveal the silver underneath. Personally, I would avoid Mako and their super cheap paint jobs.

You could even save some money by doing the prep-work yourself.
