Driving Impressions
I just wanted to give a quick update. I met up with John yesterday afternoon to pick up the kit, and he flashed my car with the tune. Drove it all the way in stop and go traffic all the way home. This evening, John sent me and updated flash for my car, and I just installed it. I took it out for a drive on a route that I normally do this time of night just for some fun (nothing dangerous), and I noticed a few things.
1. Throttle / Engine response - It's better. The engine responses faster to throttle input. It was great for rev matching during heel-toe downshifts, or just downshifting in general. Some of you might notice that the throttle doesn't always respond quickly in the stock car. I still wish the gas pedal was longer/wider, but that's a different issue.
2. Low to mid range torque - Also better. It's most noticeable to me, because of the way I drive, in 3rd and 4th gear near the torque dip when driving around town. The car is faster when you want to accelerate in gear between 2k - 4k rpm but don't feel like downshifting.
3. High rpm power - This combined with the raised rev limiter has been better than the stock. The car pulls just a bit harder up top. I'd also imagine the higher top end in 1st and 2nd gear to be pretty useful for autocross. I specifically remember 3rd gear pulls from 4500rpm ish to redline happening faster than stock.
Those things, combined with the fun stuff that John and Ecutek has in store of us like autoblip, launch control, flat-foot shifting, valet mode, etc, really made it a worth while purchase.
