Congrats and here is my advise:
1. Wait until the baby is confirmed healthy and growing before doing anything. I am not trying to scare you but sometimes things happen between pregnancy and birth and not by choice of parents. Hormonal changes may also kick in and your wife may have a change of heart.
2. It may be worth to point out to her HOW MUCH MONEY you will be LOSING over this change. Its month and month worth of formula, diapers and baby clothing she would be throwing out because you going to lose at least 8k in value by trying to sell this car at this stage.
3. Sell the mods not the car. You will not get your money back no matter what but may be able to get enough for a 4 door used car for the baby hauling. I don't know how attached you are to your 4x4(I assume alot) but that may have to go with the mods if possible.
4. Put your car on weekend only insurance until your baby is older. This will defray the cost of the less useful car's insurance. Multi car discount plus this setup may net you a wash on insurance costs if the other car is a used 4 door car.
Good luck. Also keep in mind this car will probably be around still when your kid is old enough to ride in a coupe. May want to negotiate that future purchase term now with your wife and put it in writing so no excuses later...
