That's not always true. I'm not sure bout US, but in Japan it's pretty much do with how turbo & ECU is set up, so it comes out to be fairly cheap... At the same time my cousin told me that his friend did it to friend's Evo (I think it was Evo VI), he had to pay double of money, due to engine blow, after 6 month. So he had to rebuild it from ground up and took it off the anti-lag.
He said that it was nice response, but at the same time, didn't feel much difference in mid to high range response.
