Probably has a lot to do with supply available. That, combined with the fan-boy rush.
Obviously there were more available at the innitial launch, as they had prepared a certain # before releasing them, so more would be moved at that time.. And then when you get the innitial fan-boy rush out of the way, you get a lower number of customers interested.
I doubt they are producing as many monthly as they had readily available for that first batch of sales, so it would be impossible really to match those #'s monthly. IMO doesn't reflect at all on demand at this point. The wait-lists can attest to that.
The only thing I could see the magazines bashing is... Toyota/Subaru not producing enough to meet demands, based on underestimating said demand.
