they make the rod bearings smaller to increase stroke and they strengthen the main bearings to make it stronger at higher horsepower and higher compression rate. yes it is heavier but all that means is you need more to spin it so it may not be the quickest at the light but when you get it moving the thicker counter weights will help it to move faster. This is why all the power is made at top RPM levels. This may also be why replacing the crank pulley an flywheel make such a big difference on this engine.

My opinion: I wouldn't be surprised if we are able to take this to +8k RPM's with out damaging the engine.
