You need to stop putting so much faith in the dash display and start measuring with real life variables..

Here's a proper way to measure gas mileage.
-Fill tank.. allow pump to stop when it reaches pressure level and shuts off automatically.. consider this "full"
-reset one of the trip meters to zero before you leave the gas station.
-Drive car until you are low on gas (at least under 1/4) or until the light comes on.. depends on preference.
-Go to gas station, fill gas tank until pump automatically shuts off. Consider this full.
-Now calculate.. number of miles on trip meter / gallons filled. This is your miles per gallon.

repeat cycle at least three time to get an accurate average.

I put very little stock in the on-board trip computer. I'm normaly surprised if it's within 2 mpgs of reality.

Still, having said that.. 36mpg or anything within 2 of that is a very good result..
I have no doubt the tune improved how the engine runs. I'm sure it's smoother, has more power, and is more fuel efficient.. But I put zero faith in your measurements at this point. Please do them properly and report back to us.
I wanted to say this but i was too lazy to type it thanks
