Earthquakes are a part of life down here in Souther California. I worked for the Southern California Earthquake Center for a few years and had access to all sorts of data chronicling the seismic history of the state. There's alot of misconceptions about quakes and their frequency. Needless to say, there's no way of predicting them and there probably wont be for some time. Best advice is to just stay prepared in the event of a large quake. No need to live in fear, just be ready.
