The MkIII's return to the MkI's clean design is a pleasant surprise after the MkII's bling.

Of concern is that Scion Public Relations told ************* that the price "will be under 30k" (which implies it'll be above $25k). And of course the weight is still unknown.

On a related note, assuming they stick with a 200hp 2.0L high revver, I'm hoping we'll see at least 23/32 MPG given that Subaru just announced the next generation Impreza 5MT will get 25/33 MPG. Despite the FRS being RWD, I don't think it'll match the Impreza's MPG because the base Impreza [1] isn't tuned for throttle response and [2] makes only 148hp. For reference, the 201hp Civic Si is rated at 22/31 (FWD, but a 2.4L).

Tangential factoid: the new FB20 engine in the Impreza is reportedly slightly heavier than the outgoing 2.5L (due to DOHC vs SOHC and other changes).

Anyway, I'm headed to the NYIAS for the weekend just to see this car.
The base Impreza also doesn't offer 6 spd manual/auto transmissions, or Toyota's D4-S system. Don't be surprised if the FR-S actually gets good mileage
