Surgery went well, don't feel too bad, other than feeling like I was kicked in the abdomen by an MMA fighter......I suspect tomorrow will be worse. I had originally planned on waiting until the end of the year to continue losing weight, but the "RIF" meant I wanted to get in on the benefits while I still had them.

Start the new job Sept 23rd. I couldn't start any new job before the 23rd or Oracle would revoke the severance. I don't know how they would have known, but I wasn't willing to risk 13 weeks of pay and a month of Cobra. This also allows me to take all my unused vacation, small RSU bonus that vests this Friday, and my severance and put it all in the bank.

They laid us off on Aug 13th, but actual separation date is Sept 22nd. So I've been keeping pay and benefits since. According to WARN filings, they have already filed so another layoff for Oracle employees is coming in a few weeks. This already after a few rounds just since August 13th.
YIKES, what a roller-coaster of employment -

I hope you recover from your surgery in good shape -
