My 84 Civic S munched the valve train because the water pump froze up.
It was driven by the timing belt, so, yeah. That was sometime in the early 90's though.
I was five miles from home after driving it to S Cal. and back on a two week vacation.
It was a good car none the less. Kept it til '95 and traded it in on a Grand Caravan.
