We sure learned about insurance limits. We don't keep much of anything in the house these days.
Another thing we learned. In the US at least, when you have a burglary, your house gets points, just like an individual with dmv points after a charged accident or tickets. All the insurance companies are in on it. No matter who owns the house, or what insurance company, the insurance will be more for 5 years.
Another thing we learned is never lock a box that doesn't have gold or diamonds in it. I had a big box with pictures and documents. It was locked. They just take the box. They assume anything locked is full of money. I bet they were very disappointed when they got it open. If it was unlocked, they would have opened it, left it, and moved on.
