The only way to answer that is to be you. $20k means different things to different people. Cars hold different values to different people.
Two people who both make $50k/yr could feel completely differently about paying $30k for a new car - one feels it's money well-spent and the other thinks it's a waste to spend over half their yearly gross on a new car when a used car half the price will still get them A to B.
Someone who makes $200k a year might not even need to budget for spending $20k.
And the difference between the two Gens is more significant to some than to others.
It's just not a question anyone can answer for anyone but themselves.
