I've given up; we're putting mum into a nursing home. She is now requiring 24 hour supervision. I am worried each time I leave the house, regardless for how little time, that I will come home to find her sprawled on the floor. Mum is losing the use of her legs (Parkinson's) and watching her try to walk is painful. She tries to walk, with the help of a wheeled frame, but the signal just isn't get through. Severe spine curvature, becoming locked in. And watching the dementia take a little of her each day makes me cry.
I feel bad that she's going into a home but I don't feel guilty.
I am not suggesting there is anything unique here but by f*ck this old age thing is horrible.
On the bright side it means I won't be the one to find her no longer with us, I will just get the phone call.
