Potentially it may work. The cam position sensor is basically just a hall effect sensor and the ECU is just looking for a change in signal to indicate cam position so theoretically it could learn it. There was a thread a while back with someone running different cam sprockets for the year of his car. It was fine for a while but I believe he eventually ended up with a code. I do! I forget which way the ECU can compensate but it's a one-way trip. I don't remember if the original reluctors can stay with the car if the rest of the engine is swapped. I've always assumed so, but...
