After 166hours I finally finished the main storyline of AC: Valahalla. OK, to be fair I didn't just complete the main storyline. But more of that in a minute.
The game is OK, but it has very little to do with Assassins, and only a moderate amount to do with Vikings, more like Viking expats taking over England. The game mechanics were straight out of Origins, and the non-story line stuff as pure AC (synch points, skulking around, fun but repeating side missions). Overall it was a good open world game but a poor AC game. I'm still playing through completing and the added side stories (I'm a dedicated completionist even in so-so games).
Back to the comment above, I play open world games that have synch points, or towers or whatever fast travel points you want to call it this way. Before I do a single mission I travel around and do all the synch points available to me, and any side quests, collections that I run into on that path. Only then do I go to the Main Story and side objective stories. That way my character is already well into the XP and I can fast travel during storyline events.
Maybe everyone plays that way, or maybe everyone thinks that's weird, but it's just my way.
