Dyno time!
I purchased and paid a shop ($2250) to assemble and install a 4 Piston TSX Pro head with some Toda A3 cams,
1. because my original head had leaking valve seals and I was tired of burning oil,
2. because after 15,000 miles I wanted a little more power, and finally
3. because I can no longer work on a car due to needing lower back surgery.
Well it just hit the dyno today and here are the results (followed by complete parts list).
The
red lines are WHP and the
blue lines are WTQ
The top lines are with the new head/cams on E50
The bottom lines are from when it was originally tuned on stock head/cams on 93
264.3WHP
199.4WTQ
Overall from when I first swapped the car to now:
+39.6WHP peak
+36.3WTQ peak
Comparing new head/cams on E50 vs stock on 93
I don't have an overlay of when I dyno'd on E85 with the stock heads, but looking back at that old dyno sheet, here are numbers for those curious
+30WHP peak
+4WTQ peak
While +4WTQ doesn't seem like a lot, looking at my E85 graph as a whole it makes more torque everywhere in the power band:
@3300 RPM +5WTQ
@4000 RPM +22WTQ
@5000 RPM +4WTQ
@6000 RPM +10WTQ
@7000 RPM +12WTQ
@8000 RPM +18WTQ
This is really good news to me because I was afraid I would lose some low end going with these cams and happy to report that the opposite happened which is great because this will always be a daily driver first and foremost.
