It's not just MPG. An engine that's spinning at 3500 when highway cruising has more vibration, noise, and wear. It deters high speed cruising. In my STi I'd gradually back off to 70 cuz it just didn't "feel" like it wanted to go 80 for hours. A 4 cylinder will never lope along at 80mph like a Corvette but something closer to 2500rpm is a lot more pleasent when power isn't needed and you're trying to comfortably cover miles. You can always downshift for uphills and passing.

But yes, I do want the lightest 17x7.5 43mm wheels, though might settle for the GR accesory wheels, and when the stock tires wear out I'm going to consider rolling resistance ratings (and weight) on replacements. I suspect low rr tires would be quieter as well.

It would be nice if someone made a longer 6th gear…but alas no one does.
