the bottom of the trunk weather stripping doesn't make any sense to be letting water into the trunk.

the weather stripping coming loose is likely a symptom instead of the cause. you need to look upstream. could still be the weather stripping, but up near the tail lights, or at the top by the rear glass.

all cars have plugs like that. jeep guy's like to leave them out for offroading sessions
