I just did this retrofit in the last couple days (upgrading from 13-16 cluster to a 17+ cluster). The ease of this is largely dependent on whether you have a keyed ignition or a push button ignition.
If you have a push button ignition you only have two steps (in addition to purchasing the 17+ cluster):
1. Having it reprogrammed to match your current mileage (maybe not necessary if you don't care about the accuracy or if the new cluster is close to your current mileage). Costs about $150 if you factor in shipping to and from the programmer.
2. Purchasing and installing a retrofit kit that allows you to navigate through the screens on the digital dash. About $100. This is easy to install when swapping out the clusters and there's a great how-to video on youtube.
Both can be purchased and done by Gerald at

If you have a keyed ignition, you have an extra step where you have to do a cluster reprogram with Techstream. This is also outlined in the how-to video on you tube.
Hope that helps.
