Are the front tie bars actually required? I noticed the STI doesn't run them and instead uses a shorter front bolt caliper bolt, I somehow hadn't realized that they weren't a bracket or a spacer until I was putting the front together

FWIW, I think some folks have fitted the PP Brembo brakes on the 2nd gen aluminum knuckles without them using the STI bolts because they don't fit with them. I think the feedback was just that they were noisy without them...?
