I think that's what caused the failure of the fork. The TOB was binding on the snout. There's plastic powder all over the snout. I think maybe one of the clips let loose that caused everything.
I wonder about the wisdom of too much grease on the snout. In the bell housing, fine dust from the clutch disc is whirling around and getting impregnated in that grease eventually making it more of an adhesive than lubricant. IMHO grease on the snout will cause premature failure.
