I run Ferodos DS2500 on the street and find them great for street use, but I can confirm they are not holding up to any substantial track use even on 300TW tires. My experience is that while they can « survive « the track environment, they degrade quicker and can start to fade and will not offer the consistency and confidence of a dedicated track pad, and won’t be money well Invested imho for any serious track use.

I’d offer they would be fine for a novice trying a one time hpde, but for anyone with track driving experience or wanting to do multiple days a year should move to a dedicated track pad. Last season I used Ferodo DS1.11 during the season and summer, and put back the ds2500 after the season was done. A track pad like the ds1.11 is in a complete different class in terms of consistency and safety, with no fading. Just as a reference, the burn in sequence on the ds1.11 requires about 26-30 back to back hard stops from about 100km/h to heat them up, whereas on a street pads you’ll need about 10stops.

My experience with keeping the ds1.11 on the street in summer is that they squeal a little after the bed-in layer wears off, but by doing another burnishing they become quiet again. Since I don’t drive as much these days, that was fine for me. Cold bite was plenty fine. But I would not run those only for daily driving due to noise. I find the ds2500 have more than enough bite on the street and can last for years.

Otherwise for track driving, higher temp (and fresh) brake fluid is a must in my book and stainless braided lines strongly recommended for safety. For street driving only however, as others have said, the stock setup is more than adequate, but just throwing a set of DS2500 for more initial bite can be nice for people who prefer a stronger initial bite feel. That’s more a personal preference for street use imho.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
