Theres always something in the graphics world that is supposed to be "OMG MIND BLOWING" that to me isnt such a big deal.
I think the last thing that was kind of touted as the next big feature was Ambient Occlusion....which is more or less just proper lighting and rendering around an object in the foreground.
It was such a small visual improvement to me that it made no difference whether it was used or not. Cuz in the grand scheme of things how much are you focusing on a rock and the proper rendering of the objects all around it?
I think the most noticeable way to show is it to on/off the feature, focus/zoom directly on a rock next the main character's foot and see the shadowing/lighting promptly change from either a flat/shadow/black to visualy showing proper depth around it.....
