It's not a drastic difference (not like the hydralic steering on my old BMW vs BMW electric steering) and frankly can be called subjective. But this was a small step backwards from my limited experience driving a 2nd gen model as well as from multiple people with experience with both cars.
Owned a modified 1st gen for 36k miles, I can't really tell other than it seems a touch lighter, but I still don't have a problem feeling what the car is doing and that's all that matters to me.

I don't need it to be super heavy like my track rat NA that we deleted the power steering on.
