For me, I think it comes down to defining good noises and bad noises.
I would love to hear a bit more exhaust noise, but due to how little sound deadening is in this car, I'd be afraid doing anything to make the "good noises" more audible would have to be really loud to over come the "bad noises (road noise/tire noise). The combined effect would be deafening in the car.
I did loose some engine base sound after killing the noise maker (though I think the noise maker sound is terrible) because the engine is fairly quiet, the overall effect made the car interior less loud and easier to hear the radio, telephone calls, and passengers. To cut down on overall interior noise levels I had to reduce "good noise" because there is little to be done to reduce the "bad noise".
