The R/C industry discovered and solved this very issue (and has found multiple alternatives over the years) - though some of those connectors would be considered FAR too large in this use case, they also have to handle >100amp peak (perhaps more) if I remember right. And the early solutions were still industry standard connectors (sermos-anderson power pole - though I see those rated at different current levels and they may not be up to modern brushless motors).
Brand new in-spec molex are actually reasonably capable... but every time a component is swapped they get worse... and of course the failing connectors in question were probably only plugged in once or twice.
