Okay, this is a really hard to read post.
You adjust the limiting screws based on 1st(left screw) and 6th(right screw). Pressing down on the button pulls back the pin so that the limiting screws don't do anything and you can go all the way over to engage reverse. The only adjustment to the IRP besides the limiting screws is moving the base forward/backwards which isn't going to effect reverse engagement. It will just change the angle of the shifter. The only question I have in regards to your shifter is the limiting screws towards the rear of the car, or the front?
What clutch is in your car specifically? I would lean in that direction. Could just be a pedal adjustment.
