Ivet been using Duluth trading's composite toe boots. Mostly like them. They stay cooler than most at least.

Somewhat light-ish, meets astm requirements for toe protection. But they're still waterproof, meaning you don't want them in the same room after I wore them all day in the summer

Either I can find mesh shoes that aren't much different from sandals, or they're full on waterproof trek-the-amazon-for-a-year boots...
