Really sorry to hear, @dreamwonder. If there's a chance the data on overrev was bogus I would do all I could to fight that. Maybe have a second dealer look at it, if that's a thing that can be done now.

The oil definitely didn't have anything to do with it. Filter, I'm not sure. I didn't realize 1st gen had a different oil filter. 2nd gen uses same PN as my WRX which was a nice bonus as I had a bunch.

I doubt they would have been able to tell that oil was 0w30 from a UOA considering it had a few track miles on it. Maybe if it was brandy-new I guess. These engines shear oil down a grade in less than 1000 miles (or at least the turbo FAs do.. not sure about NA.) *edit* I see he told them, so that 'splains it.
