We've had piebald squirrels where they have patches or complete areas that are pure white. In most of Ontario there are two prominent colours, the grey and the black. But on my road we have blonde squirrels. No idea why but somewhere in the local gene pool there is a recessive that overrides the dominant. This little fellow was a bright gold colour when he was young. His body molted and became this dark version but he kept his bright tail.
