If the pump is a blockage, like some of us think it might be, then neither will do anything. The only way the vacuum could be an advantage is if you removed the pan and put it into the pickup to get to the screen. This is not something that could be done with simple shop-vac attachments though.

Ahhh yes. I forgot the PCV system. Waste of time and wouldn't bother.
