I can install it myself, but the whole point was that the dealer cleans the oil pickup and documents it. I figured since the oil pan is coming off, I’ll slap on the baffled one and call it a day. It’s an OEM part made by Subaru… just not sold in America(not yet at least). I even Told them I’ll show them the receipt and bring it in the box.

Same dealer installed a JDM diffuser from Japan for another local brz, even though the jdm version isn’t sold here and has a different part number(it’s the same thing as the USA version but is black in color).

Since it didn't come in a Subaru box, they said no. Told me to call an aftermarket shop they trust. They wanted $400 in labor. Which is what I paid for the damn thing shipped.

Guess I'm going to have to go back to not being too lazy to work on my car again.
In reality, with the whole oil pickup cleaning job, there’s is no extra effort or labor involved in installing the new oil pan. In fact, it saves the tech the hassle of cleaning up the old oil pan.

Money wasn’t a concern, but I wanted the cleaning done by the dealer to have clear documentation of it
