I am sure some members just wanted to be helpful and got enthusiastic, myself included. In my case, i was doing it on my phone and didn't see others have already replied. My apologies.
But IMO, finding RTV in pick ups is not going to be a small sample size, or "blown out of proportions". Or the problem might exist only in engines from a certain date range if this was caught. Yes, internet always magnifies a problem (if there is even one to begin with) but in this case, I think there is only a small subset of owners that is even aware of this and even a smaller subset of these aware owners are dropping their pans to verify. Most are not doing it for the fear of losing their warranty. From this very small group that have dropped their pans, you are already seeing people posting that they found RTV in their pick up. Keep in mind we are not talking about spun bearings/toast engines, we are just talking about finding RTV inside the pick up. Is this a problem? No one knows. But it does make you think if all these FA24s are on borrowed time.
For my own benefits, I would be very happy to be told that i am wrong about this. I would love to see more reports of owners who dropped their pans to check and found no RTV in the pick up. But thus far, for those that checked, it does seems the hit rate is decently high.
