I feel there is still a piece of the puzzle that hasn't been found yet.
It seems that most failures are caused through the higher demands of track use/high RPM running. It may be that because no one tracks an Ascent, it's not a problem as it can get sufficient oil through the other side's of the strainer for normal every day driving.
