On an on ramp you stop at the very beginning of the ramp and sit there until there is a huge opening and then start to accelerate to merge. You should never ever just maintain speed or accelerate to the speed of traffic and then just slip in.

Well, maybe
YOU can accelerate in your fancy 2017+ 205HP car, but for us lowly 2013 owners that is just not an option. I have to drive miles out of my way to find onramps that are downhill.
