I imagine it all depends on the dealer. As noted 100 times or more on this thread, you don't really "order" a GR86. You put in a preference request (usually with some sort of deposit) and a dealer agrees to try to meet your request. All dealers vary in what that agreement looks like, whether it is in writing, what the final cost will be, etc., etc.,
You would like to think that a dealer who receives an allocation meeting your preference request would not offer that vehicle to someone in front of you in line with a different preference request, but it just depends on the dealer.
Put it this way. Suppose you are 5th in line (total) and have been waiting 6 months (Trueno/MT/Prem) and someone came in yesterday (40th in line) and requested a Trueno/MT/Base and the dealer has a Trueno/MT/base come in tomorrow? Would you want the dealer to offer it to you or not?
