The Toyota system is not to blame for the current situation. It worked fine for the FRS and then the face lift and if this was a "normal" time it would have worked now as well.
The Gunma plant has been down for a total of 12 weeks in the last two years. This has a huge impact on the number of cars they can build and has messed up the plans completely. Normally they would have had most built and out already but that just can't happen.
Oh and the not knowing when or if you will get one is not restricted to the 86 or even just Toyota. My wife's Ascent we ordered in January arrived yesterday. My grandson still does not have a firm date for a Corolla hatch he ordered o March. My buddy is 8 months into waiting for a F150 and still has no idea when or if he will get it.
I would be frustrated as well but there is d1ck all that Toyota can do about it by changing their system.
